In group 2, Ben Allinson continued his good form, winning all three matches 3-0, which moves Ben up to number 7 in the overall leaderboard. This puts Ben in contention for playing in the top group for the next tournament. The highlight match was between Nilanjana Datta and Zayn Saleh, which finished 3-2. The junior player pushed Nilanjana all the way, but it was Nilanjana who took the victory, winning the deciding game 11-8.
In group 3, Chris Burdon took the top spot with three wins without dropping a game. Rayyan Saleh – the youngest competitor to take part in the Cambridge Weekly Open so far – picked a win with a 3-0 victory over William Sie.
In group 4, Mark Albertella made an impressive debut, winning all three matches. He was pushed very close by Jenny MacMillan who took a 2-0 lead, but Mark came back to win the next three games and win 3-2. The other standout match was Jenny Martin’s 3-2 win over Jenny MacMillan. It was a very close match, which could have gone either way.
